PLUG IN AMERICA
... was formed as a special interest chapter of the Electric Auto Association in California in 2005.
Since the beginning of 2008 PLUG IN AMERICA (PIA) is registered as an autonomous non profit organization, but still in close connection to the board of the EAA umbrella organization. EAA Chairman Ron Freund, for example, is also a member of the Plug In America-Board.

For example an eye opening presentation to the "California Air Resources Board" in september 2006, titled "Plug-In Vehicle History and Status", or the survey "Living with a BEV", presented at the 23rd "Electric Vehicle Symposium" in Anaheim/California in december 2007.
Dan Neil, very prominent columnist of the popular Californian newspaper "Los Angeles Times" and winner of the "Pullitzer Price for Criticism" in 2004 for his "one-of-a-kind reviews of automobiles, blending technical expertise with offbeat humor and astute cultural observations" wrote about PIA :
"Plug In America has been the clearest and loudest voice demanding electric vehicle technology, and the most effective grassroots advocacy organization for Electric Vehicles."
