The ZEBRA-A-Class by Daimler
SAD BUT TRUE : NOT ON THE ROAD ANYMORE !
Even in the mountains of the
Bernese Alps in Switzerland, the "ZEBRA-A-Class" was the perfect car, as the max. torque of the electric motor is available at 0 - 2600 rpm.
For more information about this real and only "Mercedes of all Electric Autos", please contact
Daimler in Germany or the
"Kraftwerke Oberhasli" (KWO), a hydroelectric powerplant in Innertkirchen/Switzerland, which conducted the mountain tests together with Daimler in the 1990s.
Today, ZEBRA Batteries are produced by
CEBI (MES-DEA) in Stabio/Switzerland, who bought ZEBRA from Daimler in 1999.
Already in 2003, MES-DEA proved, that a mass produced ZEBRA-Z12 with nominal capacity of 42 kWh could be produced for only about 2800 EUR (ca. 4200 USD), i.e. ca. 100 USD/kWh.
